O’Gorman Building, University College London
This project involved the upgrade and extension of the existing Containment Level 3 laboratory on the 5th floor of the Paul O’Gorman Building. The specification was for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of building services systems to meet safety requirements for dangerous pathogens.
Responsibilities included modifications to existing systems as well as all-new installations
- Supply and extract ductwork systems, including upgrade of existing air-handling plant
- Drainage installations
- Hot and cold water installations
- Laboratory gas installations
- Electrical distribution systems
- Small power installations
- Fire detection and alarm systems
- IT cabling
- CCTV installation
- Telephone equipment and distribution systems
- Pressure testing of the enclosure to ensure near-zero leakage
- Relocation of one existing and provision of one new microbiological safety cabinet
