Dornan was awarded the electrical installation works on the 430MW Great Island combined cycle gas turbine power station. The project had a very demanding programme of works, starting with the major electrical switchgear installation and 560MVA main transformer. Dornan then successfully achieved the main transformer backfeed milestone on schedule.
Responsibilities included
- Installation and testing of 560MVA main transformer
- Installation and testing of IPB (Isolated Phase Busduct) connecting main transformer to generator, including aux transformer, excitation transformer and generator circuit breaker
- Installation of all MV & LV switchgear and DCS system
- Installation of 3000m of primary containment and 8000m of conduit
- Installation of 300km of MV, LV and I&C cabling
- Completion of 10,000 cable terminations
- Instrument hook-ups of all BOP and turbine-related instrumentation
