| Project Description: | |
| Testing, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning and Maintenance of Electrical, Instrumentation and Communications Systems on the Western Export Pipeline | |
| Scope of Works: | |
A critical element to the development of Azerbaijan into an exporter of oil and gas was the initial construction and commissioning of the Western Export Pipeline from the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea through Azerbaijan and Georgia. This pipeline was the first main export pipeline from the region and provides a secure transport route for the oil reserves from Baku to the Supsa Terminal on the Black Sea Coast. Dornan Engineering was responsible for the electrical, instrumentation and telecommunications commissioning of all the pumping and depressurisation stations within the Georgia section of the Western Pipeline. This section of the pipeline was over 300km long and traversed very difficult terrain through the Caucuses. The majority of the work was completed during the winter months and our personnel’s experience of successfully operating in some of the harshest climatic conditions in the world was a crucial factor to the success of this project. Dornan Engineering completed the project on schedule and the President opened the Supsa Terminal on the 17th April 1999. | |
